Minibond Fraud

The Minibond is so structured to shift all the risks inherent therein (but mostly not disclosed) to investors by piggybacking a credit-linked note (a façade) on another financial derivatives product (the ‘hidden component’). This enables the latter to be hidden or otherwise obscured behind the façade, which consists of a few prominent companies so as to give a false impression that the securities are akin to bond. Hence, most of the fraudulent securities are sold under the name ‘minibond’.
